Social Skills 4 Kids is a group course for children aged 7-12. The goal of the course is to help children acquire and develop the social and emotional skills necessary to, among other things: make and maintain friendships; stand-up for themselves; overcome shyness; facilitate adaptation to new environments; and to better understand themselves as well as others around them. Some children pick these skills up more easily than others, and the risk of not picking up on social clues can put children at risk for negative feelings, low self-esteem and bullying.
Next to the skills as such, a huge benefit of the course is the ability for participating children to practice the skills with their peers in a safe environment and the possibility to find recognition and support in the other group members. This is why the groups are kept small; large enough to be able to learn from peers and small enough to remain a safe space in which all participants can flourish. Social Skills 4 Kids equips children for their international social life by improving their social skills in general, but also their empathy, assertiveness and emotional awareness. More importantly; most children who follow the course are reported to act more confident in social situations after only a few weeks in the group setting.
